Auxifos is a brand of Sodium Acid Phosphate which contains elemental phosphorous. Hypophosphatemia is a common complication of kidney transplantation, occurring in up to 93% of patients during the first few months after transplantation. Kidney transplantation (KTx) restores many of the disorders accompanying end –stage renal failure .However, hypercalcemia and hypophosphostemia are both common complications after renal transplant. In cases of hypercalcaemia associated with impaired renal function and hypophosphataemia, the main effect of oral phosphate is to bind calcium in the gut and thus reduce calcium absorption.
